Follow the Lesser-Known Prophets

EhudTo be sung either to the tune of “Follow the Prophet”, or mixed in with it – not sure if this is parody or some silly extraneous lyrics.

Ehud was a prophet
Raised up by the Lord
Stabbed a very fat man
With a homemade sword!

Ehud by his acts
Brought freedom to the land.
Ehud is a hero
For those who are left-hand(ed)!

Baalam and His Ass

Balaam was a Prophet
He was full of sass,
So the Lord spoke to him
Through his beaten donkey!

Balaam spoke of Moses
And counseled with great care,
But we only like his story
‘Cause we swear!

Jephthah

Jephthah was a prophet (with)
The Spirit of the Lord.
His people begged his help,
And he marched them out to war.

He made a stupid promise
He should not have said.
Now everybody’s sorry
‘Cause his daughter’s dead.

Jehu

Jehu was a prophet
No one’s heard of him.
Details on his life
Are scanty and are slim;

He spoke to a few kings
And even wrote a book!
He isn’t in the index, though,
Go take a look!

Deborah

Deborah was a prophet
She ruled Israel.
She helped lead the army–
A kick-butt awesome girl!

Deborah was righteous
She served the Lord, you see.
(Could you) someday be a prophet?
(Yes!) Someday I could be!

Pictures come from The Brick Testament.

Yeah, I know the meter’s a bit off for some and that the Deborah verse is more of a statement (not nearly as liberal as it sounds, I swear!) than funny. If you have any other fun verse, or perhaps any improvements, feel free to contribute!
